Despite a lack of details on what such proposals would entail — including how they would be funded, the public is showing support for several options to expand health care coverage. According to the Employee Benefit Research Institute’s 2009 Health Confidence Survey, between 68% and 88% of Americans either strongly or somewhat support options such as national health plans, a public option, guaranteed issue, expansion of Medicare and Medicaid, and both employer and individual mandates.
